Judith Blum Reddy (b. 1943, New York City) received a BFA from Cooper Union and went on to study printmaking at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop and Atelier 17, Paris. She has lived and worked in SoHo since 1974 and had solo exhibitions at Art in General (1995), Nature Morte (2001), Station Independent Projects (2014), Clark House Initiative (2015), 1x1 Gallery (2016), Twelve Gates at Artissima (2017) and 1 Mira Madrid (upcoming 2023). Group exhibition venues include ABC No Rio, MoMA PS1, Stedelijk Museum Bureau, Villa Vassilieff, Dak’Art, Gwangju Biennale, Survival Kit Riga, CUNY James Gallery, and Musée Carnavalet. Her work is held in the collections of the Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Fonds national d’art contemporain (FNAC), and Centre national d’art de Grenoble.

Judith Blum Reddy’s work emerges out of her obsession with maps and lists, reflecting the absurdity of everyday events using combinations of text and images that reveal a critical preoccupation with systems of classification and questions of narrative. Blum Reddy uses diverse media including pencil, ball-point pen, ink, paint and wax on canvas, paper and wood. In addition to her art-making, Blum Reddy worked for two decades at the Camille Billops and James V. Hatch Archives of African American Culture and for its journal, Artist and Influence. She was awarded the NYSCA CAPS Grant for Drawing and Graphics. Her work has appeared in reviews published in Artforum, Frieze, The New York Times, Le Monde, Hindustan Times, and Bronx Press Review.
